I struggle to find food gifts for my family member who has suffered diabetes for almost 20 years. The problem with him is he loves snacks, from biscuits to dried fruits to all kinds of bread. I know it's very difficult to find snacks that completely doesn't raise his sugar level, but I aim to find snacks that will have minimal impact on his blood sugar.
So, starting from this basic guidelines, no sugar or at least sugar free, least carbohydrates and more protein.
According to WebMD , Nuts is one good snack for people with diabetes.
A small handful of them -- about 1.5 ounces -- can pack a big nutritional punch with a low carb count. Toss back almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts, macadamia nuts, cashews, pistachios, or peanuts for a high-fiber snack full of healthy fats. (Just be sure to hold the salt!)
Sounds good, but that would mean I have to be careful with ingredients where there is no added sugar or sweetener etc. And preferably no dried fruit too.
For example, this one: PLANTERS Cashews Rosemary & Sea Salt, Party Snacks, 5 Oz Bag has sugar in the 3rd listed ingredient.
Where as this one doesnt:
PLANTERS Pistachio Lovers Nut Mix,
Ingredients: PISTACHIOS, ALMONDS, CASHEWS, PEANUT OIL, SEA SALT.

-Airtight canister with resealable lid keeps pistachio, almond and cashew nut mix fresh
-Each batch of mixed nuts with no peanuts are roasted in peanut oil for a crunchy texture
Not very sure about this canister packaging though, I think I prefer easy disposal packaging. Oh and some other kind of nuts, like Brazil nuts, hazelnuts...
